Most of population of this universe lives in hectic lives. Today every person in this world is under stress for one or other reason. Our disturbed eating and sleeping habits may not be the healthiest and some works or jobs related worries won’t let us go to bed. Although everybody work keenly and have goals they intend to achieve, this kind of lifestyle still gets tiring at some point. Chronic stress is not something that should be disregarded. The most important thing for us is to learn, how to manage it. Although we can’t escape it completely but certain small steps and adequate measures, we can navigate and nullify the stormy waters with more ease. But what happens if what we’re dealing with is not just stress, but something else. We’re all too familiar with the symptoms of stress: we feel constantly drained, we crave bad food, we become more irritable, angrier or emotional in general. And all we want is a break from everything. These are also symptoms of anxiety. Here are some signs that what you’re experiencing is in fact hidden anxiety.
Insomnia is a disorder defined as chronic complaints of unsatisfactory sleep, despite having an adequate opportunity to sleep. This is a first sign that something is up, unless you drank too much coffee that day. Unable to fall asleep due to rumination is a most common indicator for anxiety. This should not overlooked at all. This often happens when you worry or stress a lot during the day and then can’t quiet your mind when the night falls.
A worries and fears those are so constant that they interfere with your ability to function and relax, leading to generalized anxiety disorder. Once you are passing through anxiety, you’re always worried about something, no matter how minute that issue is. You start feeling that things are out of control and you think everything is about to go wrong and against you. Stress is also related to worrying, but anxiety causes consistent worrying that can be very damaging for every bodies health.
Nightmares are lengthy, elaborate dreams with imagery that evokes fear, anxiety, or sadness. The dreamer may wake up to avoid the perceived danger. Nightmares can be remembered upon awakening and may lead to difficulties returning to sleep or even cause daytime distress. Isolated nightmares are normal, but when dreams that bring extreme terror or anxiety recur often they can become a debilitating sleep disorder. This relates to the ruminating and worrying activities. When we’re exposing ourselves to stress situations on daily basis, our minds will translate these into nightmares as soon as we fall asleep. To counter such situation, we should try meditating or any pleasant activity during the day to refresh and ease our minds.
A panic attack is a sudden episode of intense fear that triggers severe physical reactions when there is no real danger or apparent cause. Panic attacks can be very frightening. When panic attacks occur, you might think you’re losing control, having a heart attack or even dying.This is another alarm signal. Excessive worrying and ruminating can become at times so overwhelming for us that it may cause a terrible panic attack. These can be triggered even by small events, but have a devastating effect on our mental health.
Stomach problems are those problems which upset our digestive system. This include heartburn/GERD, IBD, and IBS. Symptoms may include bloating, diarrhea, gas, stomach pain, and stomach cramps. Treatment includes a combination of medication and lifestyle changes.All activities of our heads has an impact on our stomachs as well. The start of stress leads to indigestion, bloating, or upset stomach. In this case, a healthy diet could reverse some of the issues.
Compulsive Behavior is defined as performing an act persistently and repetitively without it necessarily leading to an actual reward or pleasure. Compulsive behaviors could be an attempt to make obsessions go away. The act is usually a small, restricted and repetitive behavior, yet not disturbing in a pathological way. Stress and anxiety that can also cause us to adopt obsessive behaviors, like washing hands without any reason, after short intervals or undertaking so called rituals activities that we think could ease our turmoil/problem.
